Unique Location
The Aspen Market is located next to Payette Lake in the scenic mountain town of McCall, Idaho. Dave Holland loves trains and had already installed three train tracks that encircled the top of his convenience store, complete with two actual tunnels and a little 5 inch tall fence! His request was for me to paint the top two feet of the wall, fifty feet in length, to resemble the scenery of the area. One section was above the drink counter, and would require me to climb on top of the shake machine, near the ceiling, to access the wall. I love challenges!
A final change was made and I was asked to remove the sunrise. Some people loved it, others said it's better without it. It did add several hours and some challenges since I had to repaint the sky. Either way, I just want my clients to be happy with the final product so I'll do what it takes!
The Challenge
Here I'm on top of the milkshake machine priming the wall. I hear there is security footage of me maneuvering around all the drink machines. I should have charged extra for that!
Above the Drink Machines
When I first started painting murals I had not even thought about the "highs and lows" of this career! Body positions definitely come into play and require breaks and stretching!
Train Tracks!
How fun that I was able to create a beautiful backdrop for Dave's trains!
